CROSS TRAINING:  What Is It?

All believers of Jesus Christ are CROSS-TRAINERS – and are therefore welcome to participate in all Cross Training classes and activities offered at St. Timothy!  Together we learn to walk in the way of the cross – to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Becoming spiritually mature is a process; one that requires learning and practice.  St. Timothy is committed to providing numerous opportunities for both aspects of spiritual growth throughout your journey.

ALMOST HEAVEN – WEST VIRGINIA!    June 12-18, 2011

A family of four living in an old FEMA trailer.  Winter snows, spring rains, and summer critters coming through holes in the walls.  A family of four living in a shack with no electricity, no water, no sewer hook-up.  A homeless Korean War veteran.

These are but three of the families we served in Pendleton County, West Virginia – one of the most impoverished counties in the United States.

Two of these families are now in their new homes, and one is still waiting for theirs to be built.  Those who are in their homes gratefully work on the homes of people they don’t even know – helping others to get out of living conditions they do know.

Our intergenerational team made a difference!  We did help!  We served as Christ’s hands and feet, ears and voice, eyes and heart to a people in need.

However, there is more.  We learned from those we served.  For, you see, they too were the feet, hands, ears, voice, eyes, and heart of Christ – and we learned to recognize that.  When we arrived our living quarters seemed substandard - until we learned what truly is substandard.  When we arrived we wondered how we could live without phone and e-mail service – until we re-learned the art of communicating face-to-face and planning ahead.

As we were immersed in an impoverished culture, God blessed us beyond description.  What an honor!  What a privilege!  What a joy!  God called us to work intimately alongside Him for a week, and we answered that call – and we are forever changed.

We are returning to Almost Heaven – June 12-18, 2011.  Listen closely.  God may be calling you to join the team.  Space is limited.  Call the church office now for more information.
