About St. Timothy Lutheran Church

On behalf of all the members of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, we thank you for visiting our website and invite you to join us for worship or any social event!

St. Timothy has a diverse membership base with young and old; singles and various family types; new members and life-long members. Our primary ministry focus is centered on Jesus’ final words to His disciples as recorded in the 28th chapter of Matthew’s Gospel:

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

With discipleship as our foundation, we actively engage in education, fellowship, mission, and worship – as we seek to strengthen our personal faith and to be sensitive to the needs of others. We consider it our privilege to share the message of Jesus Christ with guests and friends. Our worship and altar fellowship are open to everyone. We invite you to worship with us this Sunday and to prayerfully consider making St. Timothy your spiritual family and home.

Pastor Steve Johnson recently retired after 23 years of ministry at St. Timothy, and we look forward to meeting the person God is calling to lead us in our continued growth as disciples of Jesus!  Until our new pastor is identified, our call committee, church council, and staff are providing faithful leadership in our congregational ministry areas, and various ordained pastors endorsed by the NALC are leading worship on Sundays.

St. Timothy Lutheran Church was organized by the South Carolina Synod of the Lutheran Church in America in 1964.  The original membership met at Goose Creek High School.  In 1969 the church acquired the current property on Goose Creek Blvd. in Goose Creek, SC, and construction began on the first church facility and was later expanded in 1976.  Our Children's Center ministry began in 1989, offering classes for 2-year-olds through kindergarten.  On January 6, 2013 we became an NALC (North American Lutheran Church) congregation.
